The homeowner of block 3700 at Millwater Crossing immediately called the police after discovering swastika together with the “KKK” letters, believed to be the initials of the Ku Klux Klan, that were spray-painted on the driveway using green spray-paint. The initials “JK” together with the “KKK” were also spray-painted on the same spot. The homeowner, who is an African-American, stated to the officer that she has reasons to believe that her household was targeted by Ku Klux Klan due to their racial characteristics.

During the interview between the homeowner and the patrol officer, another homeowner stated another report claiming he also found a similar KKK vandal in his home. The man claimed that his granddaughter together with her friends invited male acquaintances in his house earlier evening. He believed that the KKK vandals were made by those men. The officer managed to discover places where spray-paints form initials such as “KKK”, “JK,” “NG”, and “BNT” over the roadway and sidewalk.

The neighbor’s granddaughter together with her friends assisted the police by giving the believed KKK suspects’ names. The report of the police states that the initials fit the names of the accused KKK suspects.

The police managed to recover some spray paint cans and a mobile phone which believed to be dropped by a Ku Klux Klan suspect during the act of vandalism. All items were considered as evidences against the members of the KKK. Up to this day, the KKK case is still active.

This is the acclaimed logic of the teacher when one of her students wore a Ryan-Romney shirt in their class in Geometry. “I guess she doesn’t like Mitt Romney that much that’s why she did it,” Samantha Pawlucy claimed, the sophomore student who accused her teacher of embarrassing her and motivating her classmates to act the same simply because of the KKK history in the past.

Many experts are fairly critical about the KKK history and how the government sees KKK; however, even these experts cannot comprehend how the teacher acts in a non-KKK related object. “If Samantha’s story was true, because the teacher claims that she was just joking about the KKK related issue, then, this is entirely wrong,” a political analyst explained. “This can be considered as overstep to the Ku Klux Klan that won’t help any student at all.

However, some analysts assumed that the story about KKK-related issues between the teacher and the student is being used against President Barack Obama. Accordingly, the anti-KKK humiliation of the teacher shows how mean the government is. Still, many political experts don’t want people to make a judgment immediately. The two parties have two different stories and weighing each story in relation to the Ku Klux Klan is the best way to approach it.

The Ku Klux Klan won the suit claiming that the ban against leafleting vehicles that are not occupied violates the freedom of speech of KKK as the First Amendment states it.

The KKK’s American Knights planned to post leaflets on vehicles along Cape Girardeau. However, the KKK learned that the city permits fliers alone, especially, if occupants will accept them.

The judge names John A. Ross stated that the Ku Klux Klan was expected to succeed. He wrote: “the stability of the justices and the interest of the community are more on the freedom of people regarding speech.”

Al Spradling, a former City mayor, stated that he will discuss it with the City Council.

The given KKK group claims itself as a nonviolent Christian organization patriarching the whites. Accordingly, this KKK group has been already near 2,000 members.

The lawsuit against the leafleting claims that the KKK uses leaflets to promulgate their advocacy.

The KKK admitted that they fear to be imprisoned if they will be illegally distributing leaflets. Accordingly, it is a 3-month imprisonment if they violate the law together with a fine of $500.

“We know that the judge will base on the precedence and we have a big chance to win the lawsuit,” Tony Rothert stated. He is the ACLU’s legal director who fought successfully against other suits regarding leaflet restrictions.

Colorado is politically dominated by the Republican Party. Going back to the KKK history, it is very clear how easy it is for the Ku Klux Klan to infiltrate Colorado.

In fact, KKK history would show that this is not the very first time they shown their presence in our state. Accordingly, the state has low African-American population in the early years so the KKK focuses somewhere else. The KKK history also shows that by the year 1920, there were already 30,000 membership of the Ku Klux Klan in Colorado alone.

Similar to other Colorado KKK communities, the Ku Klux Klan began in the Fort Collins; being considered as a genuine organization.

Afterwards, white-robed and hooded KKK members began to march along the streets to rally on the hill. Salyers, an elected Exalted Cyclops, discovered the KKK history of profound anger towards Jews and Catholics. Deeply deceived, he said that “as Christians as they were, they must be charitable toward everyone.”

The KKK dismissed Salyers and members were asked to avoid purchasing in his store. Even non-KKK members avoided the shop in fear of KKK retaliation. Salyers decided to persevere in what the Ku Klux Klan does to him.

Accordingly, the name of his store disappeared from the directory after he was dismissed from the KKK. Salyers’ story spread through Colorado like wildfire; after which, a bipartisan group began to investigate the Ku Klux Klan. By the year 1926, their influence decreased; however, KKK-motivated events still happen rarely.

THE KU KLUX KLAN: The Organization

The Ku Klux Klan is a white supremacist organization that advocates white nationalism and racial segregation. They believe that only white, heterosexual Christians should have civil rights.

This organization first incarnation and founding Klan started by four civil war veterans from Pulaski, Tennessee in 1865. These Confederate veterans from the South were all about helping the widows and orphans after the war. However, the organization turned to violence and extreme acts of terrorism by the 1870s.

In the second and third incarnation of the KKK, the hate and violent acts continued with their focus diversifying to other groups of individuals apart from the African-American freedmen and white Americans who helped abolish slavery in the United States. Jews, Catholics, homosexuals, bi-racial and immigrants became their targets as well.

The Ku Klux Klan is an organized brotherhood that believed to have an approximately 5,000 members to date.

• Grand Wizard of the Empire. He is the Klan’s national leader. He is assisted by ten men called the Genii.
• Grand Magi. He is the vice-president of the Klan and can act as deputy wizard when the Imperial Wizard is not around.

• Grand Scribe. He is the secretary of the Klan. He takes note during meetings and detailed accounts of proceedings.

• Grand Dragon of the Realm. He presides over the state assigned to him called “realms.” He has eight men assisting him called the Hydras.

• Grand Titan of the Dominion. He governs over a dominion or territory. In the sates, he presides over several counties in a state and he is assisted by six men called the Furies.

• Grand Giant of the Province. He governs over a county or province and has four men assisting him called Goblins.

• Grand Cyclops of the Den. He governs an individual “den” or chapter and assisted by two men called Night Hawks or messengers.

• Grand Monk. He’s the third in command of a Den.

• Grand Turk. He serves as a marshal and executive officer of the Grand Cyclops. He’s also the master of ceremonies in a Den.

• Grand Sentinel. He presides over the grand guards or Lictors.

• Grand Guards or Lictors. These are guards during Den meetings.

• Grand Exchequer. They serve as the treasurers of the Klan.

• Ghouls. A name that refers to all members of the Klan.

In the incarnation of the Klan, some of the names of positions were changed and there were several additional positions in the structure as well. Klan members devised several words that usually start with kl-. This might be for security reasons and to hide their identities. They are:

• Imperial Wizard. The national leader or president of the Klan.

• Imperial Klonsel. He acts as the supreme attorney of the Klan.

• Imperial Kleagle. He serves as an executive and receives reports from the Grand Goblins.
• Grand Goblin. Replacing the name Grand Titan, he presides over a “Dominion” or a multi-state area. There are 9 Dominion headquarters that can be found in Atlanta, St. Louis, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Boston, New York, and Philadelphia.

• King Kleagle. Replacing the name Grand Dragon, he governs over a state or “realm.”

• Kleagle. A term used for field organizers in a certain “realm” or territory.

• Exalted Cyclops. Replaced the title Grand Cyclops, he still governs a “Den” or a klavern.

• Klaliff. He’s the right hand man or vice-president of a klavern.

• Klokard. A Klan lecturer.

• Kludd. A Klan Chaplain.

• Kligrapp. Replacing the term scribe, they serve as a secretaries.

• Klabee. Replacing the term “exchequer,” they’re Klan treasurers.

• Kladd. A Klan conductor.

• Klarogo. A term used for inner guards.

• Klexter. A term used for outer guards.

• Night Hawks. In-change of recruiting new members/candidates.

• Aliens. New candidates.

Membership

Recruiting members has been successful throughout the United States and Canada whenever there is a non-white related issue. Some misgivings about Klan members being ignorant farmers are untrue. Members are usually from the working class, middle class or even professional ranks. They are predominantly Protestants, operating under a profit-making business venture by requiring new members to pay initiation fees and buy Klan costumes (conical hats and robes). Half of the fee will then be sent to the state and national officials.

Membership in the Ku Klux Klan, like other secret societies, used to be a secret.  Like all secret organizations, members are taught signs they can use to recognize each other. They use the acronym AYAK (Are you a Klansman?) in greeting. In response, another member would say AKIA (A Klansman I am).

Since it was founded, the total number of members has fluctuated through the years. Below is a chart of the approximate number of members in different time periods in the first, second and third incarnation of the Klan.

• Bayou Knights of the Ku Klux Klan – prevalent in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and other areas of the Southeastern U.S.

• Church of the American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan –the most active Klan in the U.S. led by Jeff Berry from Butler, Indiana.

• Imperial Klans of America – a pro-white organization since 1997.

• Knights of the White Camelia – established in 1870, this secret group still exists in the deep South.

• Knights of the Ku Klux Klan – it is the biggest Klan in the U.S. today. Founded in 2005 by national director Thom Robb, it is based in Harrison, Arkansas.
